We're officially calling it, October is a month for making prints, it's Printober! If you've taken part in enough 'draw everyday in October' challenges and you want to learn a new creative skill this year, then this is the course for you. This course is designed for adults with little to no previous printmaking experience, and a willingness to learn and get creative.
During this 5 week introductory printmaking course you will learn a new non-caustic printmaking technique each week. Non-caustic printmaking is an alternative to traditional techniques, meaning we'll be using safewash inks and processes free of harsh chemicals. You will learn a range of intaglio, relief and planographic techniques detailed in the schedule below. You will also get hands on with both our 1830's Columbian Printing Press and our A2 Gunning Etching Press.
Course schedule:
- Week 1: Dry Point Etching
- Week 2: Letterpress
- Week 3: Tetrapak Collagraph
- Week 4: Monoprint
- Week 5: Pochoir
You'll be guided each week through step-by-step demonstrations and support as you create your own prints each week. All materials will be provided.
